Cradle Hold

cradle.jpgThis is perhaps one the most commonly used position for new mothers and babies. However, it is not always the most appropriate choice. When infants are newborns they have little head control. Because mothers also have little control over infant head/neck using this position, it is often difficult for mother to assist with latch difficulties. This may be better suited for an older infant or more experienced breastfeeding baby. It has been said that mothers often identify with this position because it the position you most often see bottle feeders held.
